On the 20th of February 2021, Prof Samir Kumar Saha won Bangladesh’s second highest civilian award, the prestigious Ekushey Padak, for his contribution to research.
In 2018, we got a small grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to buy our first next-generation sequencing machine – it was a small machine called the iSeq100. It had just been released, and we got the first one in Bangladesh.
Dr. Senjuti Saha of the Child Health Research Foundation has been appointed to serve on the Polio Transition Independent Monitoring Board (TIMB), created by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative to monitor and guide the process of polio transition planning.

Dr. Samir K. Saha, Executive Director of Child Health Research Foundation has been selected for the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Award for Research in Clinical Microbiology, 2017.
Professor Samir K Saha, Head of Microbiology of Dhaka Shishu Hospital and Executive Director of Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF), along with Dr. Shahida Hasnain from Pakistan, has won the 2017 Carlos J. Finlay UNESCO Prize for Microbiology for their outstanding contribution to microbiology and its applications.
2017 at CHRF ended with our annual picnic, which brought together almost all members of the team, celebrating the achievements of 2017, and rooting for an even better 2018.
